April 22, 2016 Update

Hi Kindergarten Families!
Hope you are enjoying the roller coaster of weather!  We have had all the seasons in the past few weeks!

Here's what we have been working on:
Reading:
-Identifying two and three letter blends (ex. sl, st, str) in words and applying them to our writing
-Comparing texts with one another
-Comprehending text without pictures (We are loving the Humphrey book in class, too!)
-Generating words that are part of a word "family" (cat, bat, rat, hat, etc.)

Writing:
-Using correct capitalization and punctuation.
-Writing more than two sentences about a topic.

Math:
-Understanding the concept of subtraction.
-Identifying 3D shapes (sphere, cylinder, cube, rectangular prism, pyramid, cone, triangular prism)

PLEASE have your child work on Lexia throughout the week.  I am giving them two opportunities throughout the week to work on it, however many of them are behind on the program and need to complete it by the end of the school year.  If you need more log-in information, please contact me.  20 minutes for once a week is all it takes!  Thank you!
