And just like that.... it feels like fall!
I truly enjoyed the workshop I attended on Tuesday. I think it will be very beneficial for me as an educator and will help me guide your children to have a growth mindset!
With the change in seasons come many "bugs" and germs! Here are a few guidelines to remind you of school policy and expectations.
-If your child has a fever, they must stay home until they are fever free for 24 hours (without medication). For example, if your child has a fever at 3:00 on Tuesday, they need to stay home until Thursday to ensure that they are no longer contagious.
-Also, children must be vomit/diarrhea stomach symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.
-As always, if you have concerns about how your child is feeling or think they may not be 100% let me know via e-mail and I can keep an extra eye on them.
Walk/Bike to School Week is next week! I have included the information on a blog post below. Please read it to find out the fun happenings!
Picture Day is Wednesday. If you would like to purchase pictures, you need to return the order form on Wednesday with payment. Picture forms went home a few weeks ago. Contact the office if you need another one as I do not have extras.
We had a special visitor this week. We learned about our eyes and how to keep them healthy from a fellow kindergarten mom! Ask your child about the "pinky promise" they made to not watch or play with a screen one hour before bedtime!
Here's what we worked on this week:
Language Arts:
-We worked on breaking compound words into syllables, substituting words and identifying the last sounds in words.
-We are working on using spaces between words, sounding out our own words and drawing detailed illustrations.
-We read about the Life Cycle of an Apple and created our own apple projects.
Math:
-We worked on identifying the four basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, and rectangle).
-We started working on writing numbers and playing games to practice writing them.
Handwriting:
-We practiced holding our pencils and crayons correctly.
-We worked with scissors and holding them safely.
Things to work on at home:
-identifying uppercase and lowercase letters
-reading 20 minutes a day and logging minutes via Biblionasium (see yellow handout and e-mail).
-writing numbers correctly (3, 6, 8 and 9 are tricky!)
